One Lightweight Battery for a Three-Battery Bank
Replace three heavy 12V lead-acid batteries with one compact 36V deep cycle lithium battery.
This Epoch 36V 50Ah lithium battery simplifies a traditional 36V trolling motor setup: one 38.4V LiFePO4 battery can replace a three-battery 12V lead-acid trolling-motor bank, with no watering or acid service. At approximately 35 lbs, it removes significant weight from the bow or battery compartment while freeing up valuable boat storage space.
The Group 31 marine footprint gives anglers a familiar fitment path: 13.0 in L × 6.8 in W × 9.44 in H. It suits many Group 31 installations, but it is not a drop-in replacement for every lead-acid or AGM installation: always verify tray dimensions, hold-down straps, cable clearance, terminal orientation, cable size, overcurrent protection, and charger compatibility before replacing your current boat battery bank.
Power Your 36V Trolling Motor
Efficient 36V marine lithium performance for fishing boats and trolling motor systems.
With 1.92kWh of stored energy, 100A continuous discharge capability, and a flat LiFePO4 discharge curve, this 36V trolling motor battery helps maintain strong voltage and consistent thrust through most of the battery’s usable capacity. That means less voltage sag compared with traditional lead-acid banks and more predictable power on the water.
This battery is designed for compatible 36V trolling motor platforms, including systems commonly used with Minn Kota, Garmin, and Lowrance trolling motors when voltage, current draw, charger profile, and manufacturer battery requirements match. For longer fishing days or heavier current and wind, add runtime by wiring up to four matched 3650A-H batteries in parallel (up to 200Ah); this model must not be connected in series.
IP65 weatherproof and rugged marine construction
Dust-tight. Water-jet resistant. Built for demanding boat environments.
The sealed IP65 enclosure helps protect the battery from dust, rain, spray, and low-pressure water jets, giving anglers dependable protection for wet decks, splashes, and outdoor use. Shoppers comparing IP67 waterproof marine battery options should note that this model is IP65 rated, not submersible; install it where standing water cannot collect around the battery, terminals, or wiring.
Built-in heating and smart Bluetooth monitoring
Know your state of charge before the next cast.
Internal heating supports cold-weather charging: at 0°C (32°F) the BMS pauses charging and the incoming charge current from a connected charger (at least 0.5A) warms the battery, never its stored energy, then charging resumes at 5°C (41°F). The Bluetooth battery monitor lets you check state of charge, voltage, current, temperature, and battery status in the free Epoch Li-Ion app for iOS and Android, measured by a shunt built into the BMS. It is especially useful for anglers who want real-time battery confidence without guessing how much runtime remains.

IP65 marine weather protection
Dust-tight and protected against water jets for demanding outdoor use. Not submersible.
The IP65-rated enclosure is designed for dust-tight protection and resistance to low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for many trolling motor, fishing boat, and outdoor marine installations. It should not be submerged, pressure washed, or mounted where water can pool around the battery or terminals.
Why upgrade to Epoch LiFePO4?
More usable energy. Less weight. Longer service life.
LiFePO4 technology provides stable voltage output, long cycle life, fast charging capability, and maintenance-free operation. Compared with traditional lead-acid trolling motor batteries, this Epoch lithium battery delivers efficient 36V energy storage in a lighter package while eliminating watering, acid maintenance, and routine lead-acid service.
Fitment and charging note
Verify your trolling motor, charger, and battery tray before installation.
Always confirm Group 31 tray fitment, cable clearance, terminal compatibility, trolling motor current requirements, charger compatibility, and system requirements before installation. Use a 36V LiFePO4-compatible marine charger, inverter charger, solar charge controller, or DC-to-DC charger programmed within Epoch’s recommended charging parameters. Tighten the M8 terminal hardware to 8–12 N·m (71–106 in-lb), and place the main fuse or DC-rated breaker as close as practical to the battery positive terminal. Do not wire this battery in series. For parallel battery banks of up to four, use matched 3650A-H batteries of similar age, condition, and firmware, all at the same state of charge, and follow Epoch’s installation guidelines.
Frequently asked questions
36V 50Ah Group 31 Battery FAQs
Common questions about trolling motor runtime, fitment, charging, Bluetooth monitoring, and parallel expansion.
Will this battery fit in my current boat battery tray?
Often, yes. This battery is built around a BCI Group 31 footprint and measures 13.0 in L × 6.8 in W × 9.44 in H (330.2 × 172.7 × 239.8 mm). It suits many Group 31 trays and straps, but it is not a drop-in replacement for every lead-acid or AGM installation, so verify tray size, cable clearance, terminal orientation, and hold-down fitment before installation. Epoch offers a battery tray sized for the 3650A-H.
Is 50Ah enough to run a 36V trolling motor all day?
It depends on how hard the motor works. 50Ah (1.92kWh) is the battery’s nominal capacity, not a guaranteed usable figure; for planning, Epoch uses 80% of nominal energy, about 1,536Wh (40Ah) per battery. Runtime is roughly usable amp-hours divided by the motor’s average current draw: a 10A average draw gives about 4 hours, and a steady 500W load about 3.1 hours. Thrust setting, motor efficiency, boat weight, wind, current, and temperature change real-world results. For extended runtime, up to four batteries can be wired in parallel (up to 200Ah).
Do I need a special charger for this 36V lithium battery?
Yes. Use a 36V charger with a LiFePO4 profile or a programmable lithium charger, such as the Epoch 36V 15A LiFePO4 battery charger; do not use lead-acid, AGM, or gel profiles. Recommended settings: 42.6V–43.2V bulk/absorption, ending when charge current falls to C/20 (2.5A) or after 15 minutes, whichever comes first; float disabled (preferred) or 40.0V–40.8V; re-bulk at 39.6V; equalization disabled; temperature compensation 0mV/°C (off). Keep charge current within 50A continuous, 25A recommended. For alternator charging, a DC-to-DC charger programmed for LiFePO4 is highly recommended.
Can I connect multiple 36V 50Ah batteries together?
Yes. This battery can be wired in parallel, up to four batteries, to increase capacity. For example, two batteries in parallel create a 36V 100Ah bank. Do not wire this model in series; it is limited to one battery in series and up to four in parallel.
Does this replace three 12V trolling motor batteries?
Yes, in compatible 36V systems this single 36V lithium battery can replace a traditional three-battery 12V lead-acid trolling motor bank. Confirm your trolling motor voltage, charger compatibility, tray dimensions, cable sizing, and manufacturer requirements before replacing an existing battery bank.
Is this battery waterproof?
This model is IP65 rated, which means it is dust-tight and protected against water jets for demanding outdoor and marine environments. It is not intended for submersion, pressure washing, or installation where standing water can collect around the battery, terminals, or wiring.
Does the Bluetooth app show state of charge?
Yes. The free Epoch Li-Ion app for iOS and Android shows state of charge, voltage, current, temperature, and battery status, helping anglers track remaining power while on the water. Current is measured by a shunt built into the BMS (0.2A accuracy on discharge), so no external shunt is needed. The app asks for the Bluetooth security PIN printed on the battery’s lid the first time you connect; you can change the PIN in the app.
Does internal heating mean I can charge in freezing conditions?
Yes, with a charger connected. The battery is rated to charge from -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F) with its internal heating. At 0°C (32°F) the BMS disables charging and the incoming charge current (a LiFePO4 charger supplying at least 0.5A) powers the heating pads instead; charging resumes automatically once the battery reaches 5°C (41°F). The heater never uses stored battery energy, so it does not warm the battery during discharge or storage, and the cells never take charge below 0°C. The app may show little or no charge current while the battery warms; that is normal.
Will it work with Minn Kota, Garmin, or Lowrance trolling motors?
This battery is designed for compatible 36V trolling motor systems, including systems commonly used with brands such as Minn Kota, Garmin, and Lowrance, when voltage and current requirements match. Always confirm your motor manufacturer’s battery requirements before installation.
Can this battery be used for engine starting?
No. This model is a 36V deep-cycle LiFePO4 battery for trolling motor and compatible 36V power applications. It is not designed for engine cranking or outboard starting applications.
