Battery voltage must match the cart's electrical system. A 48V battery is not a plug-and-play replacement for a 36V cart. Converting a cart to a higher voltage requires the motor, controller, solenoid, wiring, charger and accessories to be evaluated and, where necessary, upgraded for the new voltage.
48V Lithium Golf Cart Batteries
A 48V lithium golf cart battery is a popular choice for many modern golf carts, neighborhood vehicles and utility builds. Epoch currently offers complete 48V kits in several capacities, including 65Ah, 105Ah, 150Ah and 230Ah, allowing you to match the battery to your expected range and performance needs.
The 65Ah kit is well suited to golf-course use, neighborhood cruising, campgrounds and everyday transportation. In stock or mildly upgraded carts, it may provide approximately 25 to 35 miles per charge under normal conditions. The 105Ah kit is designed for longer trips and may provide approximately 35 to 45 or more miles per charge in many standard carts.
Actual range varies according to terrain, tire size, lift height, controller settings, speed, temperature, vehicle weight, passenger load and driving style. Higher-capacity batteries may be a better choice for lifted carts, larger tires, frequent passenger use, steep terrain or extended-distance driving.
72V Lithium Golf Cart Batteries
A 72V lithium golf cart battery is intended for properly configured high-demand carts and performance builds. It can be a strong choice for compatible 72V platforms, heavily lifted carts, six-passenger vehicles, electric utility vehicles and custom carts using high-output motor and controller packages.
Epoch's 70.4V nominal 72V 105Ah complete kit is engineered for demanding continuous and peak-power requirements. However, a 72V battery should never be treated as a simple voltage upgrade for a lower-voltage cart. The motor, controller, solenoid, cables, charging equipment, accessories and overall drivetrain must all be confirmed for 72V operation before installation.
Drop-In Compatibility for EZGO, Club Car and Yamaha
A drop-in lithium golf cart battery is engineered to fit within the factory battery-tray area with significantly less fabrication than a fully custom battery build. Epoch offers configuration-specific golf cart lithium conversion kits for popular platforms, including compatible EZGO TXT and RXV, Club Car DS, Precedent and Onward, and Yamaha Drive and Drive2-style carts.
“Drop-in” does not mean universal. Model year, battery-tray dimensions, cable routing, controller demand, onboard-computer requirements and accessory wiring can differ even between carts from the same manufacturer. Some Club Car systems may require an onboard-computer bypass, while Club Car DS owners should select the appropriate Mini battery configuration where specified.

- Nominal stored energy: the pack's nominal voltage times its amp-hours. kWh compares batteries across system voltages; amp-hours compare only at the same voltage.
- Max output
- The most current the battery is rated to deliver continuously. Match it to your largest load, such as a trolling motor or an inverter.
- Peak
- A short burst above the continuous rating, held for the time shown. It is not a cold cranking amps (CCA) rating.
- Weight
- The battery's weight in pounds; for a kit of several modules, the whole kit.
- Size
- The BCI group is the industry case footprint; dimensions are length × width × height in inches. Verify tray dimensions, terminals, wiring and charging-system compatibility before installation.
- Cycle life
- Rated charge and discharge cycles. Cycle life is rated per model, at the depth of discharge, charge rate and temperature stated on the datasheet, to its end-of-life capacity.
- Warranty

48V Lithium Golf Cart Batteries
A 48V lithium golf cart battery suits many modern carts, neighborhood vehicles and utility builds. Epoch offers complete 48V kits in 65Ah, 105Ah, 150Ah and 230Ah capacities. The 65Ah option fits shorter routes and lighter duty, 105Ah balances range and size, and the larger packs serve long routes, passenger carts, steep terrain and higher-output systems when their dimensions and current ratings match.
72V Lithium Golf Cart Batteries
A 72V-class battery is intended for compatible performance carts and utility vehicles. Epoch’s 70.4V nominal 105Ah kit stores approximately 7.39kWh. It is not a plug-and-play replacement for a 36V or 48V bank; the complete drivetrain and charging system must be rated and configured for 72V operation.
Cart-Specific Fitment
Epoch provides configurations for many compatible Club Car, EZGO, Yamaha and other platforms. “Drop-in” does not mean universal. Model year, battery-bay dimensions, controller demand, cable routing, regenerative braking and accessory wiring can vary. Some older Club Car systems require an onboard-computer bypass, while applicable Club Car DS carts may need the Mini battery configuration.
How to Size a Lithium Battery for Range, Hills and Accessories
- Confirm system voltage at the controller, motor, charger and existing bank rather than relying only on the number of old batteries.
- Check controller current. The battery’s continuous and peak-discharge ratings must support the controller’s programmed demand.
- Account for terrain and load. Hills, sand, mud, oversized tires, lift kits, passengers, cargo and towing increase energy use and current demand.
- Review regenerative braking. Peak regenerative current must remain within the battery’s charge limits, especially on long descents or near full charge.
- Include accessories. Lights, audio, fans, USB outlets and other 12V equipment consume energy and must stay within the step-down converter’s output.
- Measure the compartment. Confirm battery length, width, height, terminal clearance, cable routing and mounting-bracket fit.
- Add practical reserve. Base capacity on the longest realistic route rather than an ideal short trip.

Matched Charging and Low-Temperature Protection
Lead-acid and LiFePO4 batteries require different charging profiles. My project was to convert my 48V Hustler Zeon mower from Lead-acid to Lithium Batteries. After reviewing the Epoch batteries online and speaking with a sales-person, I found that the Epoch Mini was a good fit for the existing battery compartment size. Upon receiving the kit, I found that the length and width left me with room for the charger to be mounted adjacent to the battery. The only "hold-my-breath" moment came when it looked as though the height might be a problem because the cover for the battery compartment is the seat. Upon lowering the seat, I found that the clearance is about 1/2". I completed the battery, charger port, gauge and start button install and was delighted at the outcome. Because I have another mower, I have yet to put it to the endurance test. The only issue that I have is with the 48V to 12V converter. I am not sure how to hook it up. but since I have no 12V accessories on the mower, it is not that important. Thank you for your assistance in completing my project successfully.
