The best golf cart battery upgrade makes the whole conversion easier. An old lead-acid bank brings weight, battery watering, corroded connections and power that can fade over a long day. Epoch's Big Box Series brings the main pieces of a lithium conversion together, giving owners of compatible electric carts a practical way to replace that bank with one LiFePO4 battery.
Big Box complete kits pair a battery with a lithium charger, dashboard gauge, 12V accessory converter and installation components that vary by cart configuration. Select the correct voltage and fit, remove the old bank and build around one clean power source. Bluetooth monitoring and the battery's built-in Battery Management System (BMS) add useful information and protection after the upgrade.
The series covers 36V, several 48V capacity choices and a 72V-class kit for compatible high-voltage systems. That range is a key reason Big Box is a standout choice: a classic two-seat cart, passenger cruiser and longer-distance build can start with a kit suited to different demands while following the same simpler conversion approach.
Voltage comes first. A 36V lead-acid cart needs a compatible 36V system, while a 48V cart needs a compatible 48V system. Then choose capacity and footprint for your routes, passengers, hills and battery bay. The table summarizes Big Box complete-kit starting points; verify the current product configuration and electrical requirements before ordering.
Check the labels on the old batteries and the cart's controller when identifying voltage. Six 6V batteries connected in series typically form a 36V bank; six 8V or four 12V batteries typically form a 48V bank. An upgraded motor, controller or accessory system also belongs in the fitment review, because the battery must supply the current the cart actually draws.
| Existing cart and driving needs | Big Box kit to review | Fitment check |
|---|---|---|
| Compatible 36V lead-acid cart | 36V complete kit with an available E-Z-GO TXT, Club Car DS or Other option. | Confirm 36V drivetrain, battery-bay size, controller and selected mounting parts. |
| 48V cart on shorter, lighter routes | 48V 65Ah complete kit. | Match usable energy and output to the route, load and cart configuration. |
| 48V everyday or longer-distance cart | 48V 105Ah full-size kit. | Check model-specific brackets, tray, cables and controller demand. |
| 48V cart needing a compact footprint | 48V 105Ah Mini kit; Epoch recommends this version for compatible Club Car DS carts. | Measure the tray and verify height, terminals and hold-downs. |
| Long routes or demanding 48V use | 48V 150Ah or 230Ah complete kit. | Allow for a larger battery and confirm the configuration and output required. |
| Already compatible 72V cart or engineered build | 72V-class 105Ah complete kit. | Verify motor, controller, cables, charger, accessories and full 72V electrical design. |
A Big Box battery can sit in the factory battery-tray area of a compatible cart, with configuration-specific hardware helping to secure it. This approach can save the work of designing a fully custom battery installation. It also cleans up the compartment: one main battery replaces multiple lead-acid cases and many of their connections.
The best fit starts with real measurements. Compare the chosen battery's length, width, height and terminal clearance with your tray. Check cable reach, hold-down space, the cart's continuous and peak controller draw and regenerative charging where applicable. For a 48V Club Car DS, Epoch specifies the Mini instead of its full-size 105Ah battery. Some older Club Car charging systems may require an On-Board Computer bypass.
Big Box kits are intended for compatible lead-acid conversions. A cart that shipped with an integrated factory-lithium powertrain needs its own battery, charger and vehicle-electronics assessment before any replacement is selected.
Use the kit's LiFePO4 charger unless an existing charger has been confirmed and configured for that battery's lithium profile. Power 12V accessories through a properly rated converter rather than tapping a portion of the original lead-acid bank. A qualified installer can handle uncertain charge-port, controller or OBC wiring.
A properly sized Big Box kit keeps the cart ready for ordinary daily driving with no lead-acid watering and clearer charge information. The 36V kit serves compatible classic carts, while 48V options allow owners to choose a capacity for shorter outings or a longer day. Actual range and charge time vary with terrain, load, driving style, battery size and charger output.
Heavier use can benefit from the additional energy in the 48V 105Ah, 150Ah or 230Ah kits when the battery and its output suit the cart. Bigger tires, lifted suspensions and upgraded controllers all change electrical demand. Match both capacity and current capability to the vehicle rather than choosing by amp-hours alone.
Epoch Big Box earns its place among the strongest golf cart lithium conversion choices by putting one LiFePO4 battery, matched charging and useful monitoring into a complete-kit lineup with several voltage and capacity options. With the correct configuration, it offers a clean lead-acid replacement and a manageable installation path.

Epoch Big Box kits provide more than a lithium battery—they combine the LiFePO4 power source with a compatible charger, dashboard gauge, 12V converter and configuration-specific installation components. This coordinated approach simplifies the conversion process and reduces the compatibility guesswork involved in sourcing charging, monitoring and mounting equipment separately.
One Big Box battery can replace a heavy, interconnected lead-acid bank, reducing weight, cables, corrosion points and routine watering. Supported kits also include Bluetooth monitoring, built-in Battery Management System protection and IP67-rated enclosures, while thousands of listed charge cycles and an 11-year limited manufacturer warranty add confidence for long-term ownership.
The Big Box lineup includes 36V, multiple 48V capacities and a 72V-class option for already compatible systems or properly engineered builds. From classic two-seat carts and compact Club Car DS battery bays to passenger vehicles and high-demand, long-route applications, Epoch offers a kit that can be matched to the cart’s voltage, space and power needs—making Big Box the best all-around solution for a compatible lead-acid golf cart conversion.

72v 105ah installed
The battery fit perfectly in the cart, and everything runs excellent.
Can’t beat it!
11/10 stars. Never had a real issue with any epoch batteries and if I have questions or do need support, yall are the best.
Hustler Zeon zero turn lawnmower
My project was to convert my 48V Hustler Zeon mower from Lead-acid to Lithium Batteries. After reviewing the Epoch batteries online and speaking with a sales-person, I found that the Epoch Mini was a good fit for the existing battery compartment size. Upon receiving the kit, I found that the length and width left me with room for the charger to be mounted adjacent to the battery. The only "hold-my-breath" moment came when it looked as though the height might be a problem because the cover for the battery compartment is the seat. Upon lowering the seat, I found that the clearance is about 1/2". I completed the battery, charger port, gauge and start button install and was delighted at the outcome. Because I have another mower, I have yet to put it to the endurance test. The only issue that I have is with the 48V to 12V converter. I am not sure how to hook it up. but since I have no 12V accessories on the mower, it is not that important. Thank you for your assistance in completing my project successfully.
48v 65ah
The customer love the battery. And thought the installation, very professional.
51V 105ah installed 7/2026
Awesome power. Holds charge. No worries about running out of juice like the Lead Acid.
So far so good.
I bought the 48v 230ah Golf Battery for another purpose than a Golf Cart, for its compact design and 11,776 watts per hour. Using a MultiPlus II for its charging and power consumption, the Epoch battery has been running great.
