Epoch Lithium Batteries for E-Z-GO Golf Carts

From a neighborhood TXT to a busy RXV, an electric E-Z-GO golf cart should be ready when you are. If yours still uses lead-acid batteries, every ride comes with a heavy battery bank, periodic watering and a charge level that can feel less dependable near the end of the day. Epoch's LiFePO4 conversion kits offer a cleaner way to power compatible E-Z-GO carts.

For a properly matched lead-acid cart, one Epoch battery can replace the series-connected bank in the existing battery-tray area. Complete kits bring together a lithium charger, battery gauge, 12V converter and configuration-specific mounting components, reducing the parts you have to match yourself. That is the practical appeal of a drop-in style upgrade: a simpler route from lead acid to lithium when voltage, fit and electrical demand have all been checked.

Some E-Z-GO vehicles already left the factory with ELiTE lithium power. Those carts have a different conversion path because their battery works with other vehicle electronics. Identify your original powertrain first; the guide below covers both lead-acid conversions and the checks needed before considering an Epoch system for a factory-lithium cart.

Why Choose Epoch for a Compatible E-Z-GO?

  • Less weight, more room to work: Replacing several lead-acid batteries with one appropriately sized LiFePO4 battery can remove significant weight and reduce the number of battery-to-battery connections. Actual weight savings depend on the batteries being removed and the Epoch model installed.
  • More consistent driving feel: Lithium iron phosphate holds a steadier voltage through much of its usable charge. A correctly matched cart can feel more responsive on hills or with passengers as the charge runs down.
  • Maintenance without watering: Leave behind acid-level checks and lead-acid corrosion cleanup. Continue normal inspections of cable connections, hold-downs, the charger and the rest of the cart.
  • A charger made for lithium: Epoch complete kits include a charger intended for the supplied LiFePO4 battery. Recharge time varies with charger output, battery capacity and how much charge remains.
  • Charge information at a glance: The supplied gauge and supported Bluetooth app features make it easier to check state of charge and battery status before a long ride. The battery's built-in management system monitors operating conditions and provides specified protections.

Find the Right E-Z-GO Upgrade Path

E-Z-GO is the manufacturer, but the model, year, original battery type and system voltage determine which approach fits. Epoch lists TXT and RXV configuration choices on selected kits. The examples below are starting points; confirm the current product configuration, battery-bay measurements, controller demand and charging arrangement for your own vehicle.

Match the cart's original power system before choosing a battery
Existing E-Z-GO cart Epoch starting point Check before ordering
36V electric TXT with lead-acid batteries 36V 100Ah complete kit with the EZGO TXT configuration. Confirm voltage, tray clearance, mounting, controller, cables and charger connection.
48V electric TXT with lead-acid batteries Choose a compatible 48V kit with the EZGO TXT option, such as the 48V 105Ah complete kit. Match pack size and current rating to the cart, passengers, terrain and modifications.
48V electric RXV with lead-acid batteries Review a kit that offers the EZGO RXV configuration, such as the 48V 65Ah or 105Ah option. Verify year, battery bay, controller load, charging, accessory wiring and applicable braking behavior.
Factory ELiTE lithium E-Z-GO Request a vehicle-specific compatibility assessment before selecting any Epoch battery or conversion parts. Confirm battery and vehicle communication, voltage window, controller, charger, regenerative braking, interlocks and mounting.
These examples do not guarantee fitment for every model year or modified cart. A 48V kit is not a battery-only voltage upgrade for a 36V drivetrain; gas carts and factory ELiTE lithium carts require a different assessment.

A Simpler Lead-Acid to Lithium Conversion

Epoch's E-Z-GO-specific options make a lead-acid conversion more approachable by grouping the major components into one kit. For a compatible TXT or RXV, the single lithium battery takes the place of the old battery bank; cart-specific mounting hardware helps secure it in the original battery area. You still need the correct voltage class and enough physical clearance. “Drop-in” describes the battery-tray approach, not a promise that every E-Z-GO uses identical brackets or wiring.

  • Identify the actual cart: Find its model and year, confirm it is electric, and check whether the original system is 36V or 48V lead acid. Note lift kits, larger tires, additional seating, changed controllers and high-draw accessories.
  • Choose the matching configuration: Compare the Epoch battery dimensions and current ratings with the tray, hold-down space and controller requirements. Select TXT or RXV on the product page when that choice is offered.
  • Plan the full installation: Remove and recycle the old lead-acid bank, mount the Epoch battery securely and follow the supplied wiring instructions. Position the kit's lithium charger, gauge and 12V converter as required for the vehicle.
  • Check operation before driving: Confirm polarity, charging, gauge readings, lights and accessories, and normal driving and braking behavior. Use a qualified installer for unfamiliar wiring, charging-port or controller work.

Do not rely on an old lead-acid charger unless Epoch confirms it is correctly configurable for the exact LiFePO4 battery. A compatible lithium charging setup is part of the conversion, and accessories that need 12V should be supplied through a properly rated converter.

Choose Capacity for How You Drive

36V TXT: Keep the Original Voltage Class

Epoch's 36V 100Ah complete kit offers an EZGO TXT selection for a compatible 36V lead-acid cart. It includes a lithium charger, gauge and 12V converter. A 36V TXT conversion starts by replacing the battery system with a same-class lithium system, while still checking the controller, tray, charger port and any accessories.

48V TXT and RXV: Match Energy to the Route

Epoch lists 48V 65Ah and 48V 105Ah complete kits with TXT and RXV configuration choices. The smaller capacity can suit lighter, shorter trips when its output and usable energy meet the cart's needs; the 105Ah kit gives more energy reserve for longer neighborhood loops or more passengers. Selected larger 48V kits also offer a TXT configuration for demanding builds, but require additional space and electrical checks. Terrain, speed, load, tire size and controller settings all affect range, so choose by your route and vehicle rather than an advertised mileage number alone.

Already Have an E-Z-GO With Factory ELiTE Lithium?

An E-Z-GO ELiTE vehicle starts with lithium, so this is a lithium-to-lithium repower decision rather than a lead-acid conversion. E-Z-GO describes the ELiTE battery, management electronics, charger, controller, motor and brakes as an integrated powertrain. An Epoch battery that fits the tray or appears to share a voltage class is not automatically a compatible replacement for the original factory pack.

If you want to move from factory lithium to an Epoch system, begin with the exact model, model year, factory battery details and reason for the change. Have Epoch support and a qualified E-Z-GO service professional review the required battery output and voltage window, electrical connections and communication, charger and charge port, dashboard information, regenerative braking and drive interlocks. Ask for a documented parts and installation plan covering every affected system before the original pack is removed.

Only proceed if a complete, vehicle-specific solution has been confirmed. The lead-acid TXT or RXV kit should not be described as a direct swap for a factory ELiTE pack, and the original factory charger should not be assumed compatible with an Epoch battery. This extra planning protects the functions you expect when you turn the key, plug in the cart or brake on a hill.

Keep Your E-Z-GO Ready for the Next Ride

For a compatible lead-acid TXT or RXV, Epoch brings the battery, lithium charging and monitoring components together in a practical upgrade kit. You gain a low-maintenance LiFePO4 system, clearer charge information and a cleaner battery compartment without starting a custom build from individual parts. If the cart arrived with factory lithium, the same Epoch performance goals require a separately verified system plan.

Start with your cart's year, platform, original battery type and voltage. Then explore Epoch's E-Z-GO lithium battery options or contact Epoch about fitment before choosing a kit. That first check makes the upgrade easier to install and easier to enjoy.
