Club Car Lithium Batteries

Club Car Lithium Batteries

Epoch Lithium Batteries for Club Car Golf Carts

A Club Car should be ready for a round of golf, a neighborhood drive or a full day of errands. For electric carts still running a lead-acid bank, battery care can get in the way: watering, corrosion, a crowded tray and power that fades as the charge drops. Epoch LiFePO4 conversion kits give compatible Club Car owners a practical way to move to a lighter, cleaner lithium power system.

On a properly matched lead-acid DS, Precedent or Onward, one Epoch battery can replace the multi-battery bank in the original battery area. Complete kits bring together a lithium charger, gauge, 12V converter and mounting components, which makes the installation easier to plan. The result is a drop-in style upgrade when the voltage, battery bay, controller and wiring match the selected kit.

Club Car has also sold factory-lithium Tempo and Onward vehicles. Those already have lithium systems and need a different evaluation before changing brands. Start with the exact model, year and original power source, then follow the corresponding path below.

Why Epoch Is a Strong Choice for a Lead-Acid Club Car

  • A cleaner battery compartment: A single compatible Epoch LiFePO4 battery replaces a row of lead-acid batteries and many inter-battery cables. It can remove substantial weight, with actual savings depending on the original bank and chosen kit.
  • Steadier power during the ride: Lead-acid voltage declines as the bank discharges. Lithium iron phosphate maintains a flatter voltage through much of its usable charge, helping a correctly sized cart feel more consistent on hills or late in the day.
  • No battery watering: Skip distilled water, acid-level checks and cleanup of lead-acid residue. Normal checks of terminals, mounting hardware, the charger and cart components still matter.
  • Matched charging and useful monitoring: Epoch's complete kits include a LiFePO4 charger and dashboard gauge. Supported Bluetooth features let you check battery information from a compatible phone before a long trip.
  • Room to choose the right capacity: A neighborhood cruiser, lifted four-seater and course cart may need different energy reserves. Choose by the cart's route, load, tray size and controller demand; amp-hours alone do not guarantee a particular range.

Match the Club Car Model and Original Battery System

“Club Car compatible” does not mean every battery fits every Club Car. Epoch publishes configuration-specific options, and the right starting point changes between a 36V DS, a 48V DS, a Precedent and a newer Onward. Confirm whether the cart originally uses lead acid or factory lithium, then compare actual voltage, dimensions and electrical requirements.

Club Car lithium upgrade starting points
Existing electric Club Car Epoch starting point Check before ordering
36V DS with lead-acid batteries 36V 100Ah complete kit; select the Club Car DS configuration. Confirm original voltage, tray, controller, cables and charger wiring.
48V DS with lead-acid batteries 48V 105Ah Mini kit; select Club Car DS. Check Mini footprint, hold-down space, controller and any onboard-computer requirements.
48V Precedent with lead-acid batteries 48V 65Ah or 105Ah complete kit with the available Precedent configuration. Compare capacity, output, battery-bay dimensions, charging port and OBC setup.
48V Onward with lead-acid batteries Review the 48V 105Ah full-size kit; ask Epoch which configuration suits the specific Onward. Confirm lead-acid powertrain, model year, mounting, controller, accessories and charging.
Tempo with lead-acid batteries Ask Epoch to assess a voltage-matched kit; no Tempo-specific product option is listed. Verify model year, powertrain, tray, controller, OBC, charger and mounting.
Factory-lithium Tempo Li-Ion or Onward HP Li-Ion Request a vehicle-specific system assessment before selecting an Epoch battery. Check vehicle communication, charger, display, controls, braking and supported conversion parts.
These are selection starting points, not universal fitment guarantees. A 48V battery is not a direct voltage upgrade for a 36V drivetrain, and a factory-lithium pack is not replaced using the same procedure as a lead-acid bank.

Make the Lead-Acid to Lithium Upgrade Easier

Epoch's complete-kit approach reduces the number of separate parts to find. For a compatible Club Car, the kit's battery occupies the existing battery-bay area, while the included charger, gauge and converter cover key pieces of the conversion. Cart-specific mounting helps secure the new battery. “Drop-in” refers to this simpler physical approach; it still depends on the cart's tray, wiring and electrical system.

  • Identify the cart: Check the model and year, verify that it is electric, and confirm the lead-acid bank's voltage. Note any motor or controller upgrade, larger tires, rear seat or added accessories.
  • Measure and select: Compare the battery's dimensions and output rating with your tray, hold-down space and controller demand. Choose the Club Car configuration offered for that exact Epoch product.
  • Plan charging and accessory power: Use the kit's lithium charger in place of an incompatible lead-acid charging profile. Some older DS and Precedent carts have an On-Board Computer (OBC) tied to the original charger and may need an OBC bypass. Supply 12V accessories through a correctly rated converter.
  • Install, then test: Remove and recycle the old bank, secure the new battery, connect cables and charging equipment according to the manuals, and verify polarity, gauge, accessories, charging and normal cart operation before a longer drive.

A qualified installer can resolve uncertain charger-port, OBC or controller wiring. The exact work varies with model year and previous modifications, even when the battery fits neatly in the tray.

Choose a Kit That Fits Your Club Car

DS: Follow the 36V or 48V Route

Epoch's 36V 100Ah kit includes a DS selection for compatible 36V electric carts. For a compatible 48V DS, Epoch recommends its compact 48V 105Ah Mini instead of the full-size 105Ah kit. That shape and DS-specific configuration better address the classic under-seat battery compartment; check clearance and cabling before purchase.

Precedent and Onward: Size for the Way You Drive

Epoch offers 48V 65Ah and 105Ah choices with a Precedent configuration. Its full-size 105Ah kit also describes compatibility with appropriately matched lead-acid Onward carts. The 65Ah capacity may fit shorter, lighter routes; the 105Ah option offers more stored energy for longer trips or more passengers. Confirm current output and tray dimensions, especially on lifted or modified carts.

Converting a Factory-Lithium Club Car to Epoch

A Tempo Li-Ion or Onward HP Li-Ion came from Club Car with lithium already installed. If its original pack needs attention or you are considering a different battery system, this is a lithium-to-lithium repower project. Club Car describes factory lithium as part of the vehicle's electrical system, with a battery management system, vehicle control electronics and dedicated charging. Tray fit and a similar voltage label alone do not establish compatibility.

Before ordering, send Epoch the cart's model, year, serial information and photos of the battery area and charging hardware. Have Epoch and a qualified Club Car service professional review battery voltage and output, communication with the vehicle control module, charger and charge port, gauge or display, drive controls, braking behavior, safety interlocks and mounting. Ask for a complete, documented conversion plan and confirmation of the parts supported for that vehicle. If a compatible repower is confirmed, compare the available Epoch capacity, output and monitoring features with the reason you want to change the original system.

No direct Epoch drop-in replacement for a factory Club Car lithium pack is documented in the kit listings referenced here. Do not assume a lead-acid DS, Precedent or Onward kit can simply replace a factory lithium pack, or that the original Club Car charger and dashboard functions will work unchanged. Continue only after the exact vehicle and full system have been verified.

Choose the Club Car Upgrade With Confidence

For a compatible lead-acid Club Car, Epoch brings lithium power, matched charging and clear battery monitoring together in a convenient kit. With the correct DS, Precedent or Onward fitment, the swap can simplify the battery bay and eliminate watering while keeping the conversion practical to install. A factory-lithium Club Car calls for a separately confirmed system plan.

Start by checking the cart's model, original power source and voltage. Explore Epoch's Club Car lithium battery options, then ask Epoch to confirm fitment if the tray, charger or factory electronics are uncertain.
