Why Epoch Makes Some of the Best 36V Lithium Batteries

A 36V lithium battery is not simply a lighter replacement for a lead-acid bank. In a golf cart, it becomes the source of every acceleration, hill climb and mile of range. In a fishing boat, it determines how long the trolling motor can hold position, work a shoreline and fight wind or current before the day is over.

That is why Epoch does not treat every 36-volt application as if it needs the same generic battery.

Epoch offers purpose-built 36V LiFePO4 solutions for two very different jobs:

  • A complete 36V 105Ah lithium golf cart conversion kit designed for high current, long driving range, regenerative braking and straightforward installation.
  • Heated, Bluetooth-enabled 36V 50Ah and 100Ah deep-cycle marine batteries designed for trolling motors, fishing boats and demanding outdoor power systems.

Each platform is engineered around the current, runtime, enclosure and installation requirements of its intended application. Customers can choose the compact Group 31 battery that saves the most space and weight, the larger 100Ah marine battery that doubles runtime, or the complete 105Ah golf cart kit that includes the major conversion components in one package.

Depending on the model, Epoch 36V lithium batteries provide Bluetooth monitoring, internal heating, advanced BMS protection, IP65 or IP67 enclosure protection, high continuous and peak-current capability, parallel expansion and an 11-year manufacturer warranty.

The result is a 36V lithium battery lineup built around real vehicles and boats—not just an amp-hour number printed on a case.

Why Choose a Native 36V LiFePO4 Battery?

Many traditional 36V systems are assembled from multiple lower-voltage batteries. A trolling motor may use three 12V lead-acid batteries connected in series, while an older golf cart may use six 6V batteries.

That works, but it creates a heavy, maintenance-intensive bank with numerous cables and terminals.

A native 36V Epoch battery consolidates the system into one managed LiFePO4 platform.

Replace a Complicated Multi-Battery Bank

Moving from several lead-acid batteries to one native 36V lithium battery can eliminate:

  • Multiple battery cases
  • Series jumper cables
  • Extra exposed terminals
  • Acid residue and corrosion
  • Separate hold-down hardware
  • Repeated water-level checks
  • Voltage imbalance between aging lead-acid batteries

Fewer components create a cleaner installation and fewer connection points to inspect.

Get More Usable Energy

Lead-acid batteries are commonly operated within a conservative depth-of-discharge range to protect their service life. LiFePO4 batteries are designed for deeper routine cycling within the limits of the selected model.

That means a larger share of the battery’s rated capacity can support the cart or trolling motor before recharging.

Maintain Steadier Voltage

Lead-acid voltage declines as the bank discharges and may sag further under a heavy load.

LiFePO4 maintains a flatter discharge curve. A compatible golf cart can feel more consistent later in the drive, and a compatible trolling motor can maintain steadier thrust through more of the fishing day.

Lithium does not increase a motor beyond its designed limits, but it helps reduce the progressive performance fade associated with a discharging lead-acid bank.

Remove Significant Weight

Three Group 31 lead-acid marine batteries can place roughly 180 to 200 pounds or more in a boat before cables and trays. A six-battery golf cart bank can be considerably heavier.

The Epoch 36V 50Ah battery weighs approximately 35 pounds. The 36V 100Ah marine battery weighs approximately 75 pounds, and the 36V 105Ah golf cart battery weighs approximately 81 pounds.

Actual savings depend on the bank being replaced, but the difference can be substantial.

For a boat, lower battery weight may improve holeshot, shallow-water draft, balance and trailer load. For a golf cart, it may improve acceleration, braking feel and the amount of work required from the motor on hills.

Put the Complete Pack Under One BMS

A native 36V battery uses one integrated Battery Management System to monitor the entire pack.

The BMS helps protect against model-specific conditions such as overcharge, excessive discharge, overcurrent, short circuits and unsafe temperatures.

In a series bank made from three separate 12V lithium batteries, each battery has its own BMS. A native 36V platform eliminates the need to manage three independently protected batteries as one system.

Why Epoch Makes One of the Best 36V Lithium Golf Cart Conversion Kits

An older 36V golf cart can remain useful for years after its lead-acid batteries become the weakest part of the vehicle.

The right lithium conversion can remove hundreds of pounds of battery weight, eliminate watering and acid cleanup, reduce cable clutter and restore more consistent power. The wrong conversion can leave the owner trying to match a battery, charger, gauge, converter and mounting solution from different suppliers.

Epoch solves that problem with a complete 36V lithium golf cart battery kit built around one 105Ah LiFePO4 power system.

A Complete Kit Instead of a Battery and a Shopping List

The Epoch 36V 105Ah golf cart conversion kit includes:

  • One 36V 105Ah LiFePO4 battery
  • One dedicated 36V 15A lithium charger
  • One dashboard state-of-charge gauge
  • One 12V converter for compatible lights and accessories
  • Bluetooth app monitoring
  • Configuration options for compatible EZGO TXT, Club Car DS and other installations

This is one of the strongest reasons to choose Epoch.

The battery, charger, gauge and converter are selected as parts of one conversion ecosystem. The owner or installer does not have to guess whether an old lead-acid charger is appropriate, whether a voltage reducer is required for 12V accessories or how the driver will monitor state of charge.

The kit reduces part-matching work before installation and gives Epoch support a known set of core components to help troubleshoot later.

105Ah of Capacity for Long Golf Cart Runtime

The 36V 105Ah battery stores approximately 4.032kWh of energy.

That is substantial capacity for golf-course use, neighborhood transportation, campgrounds, farms, marinas, campuses, hunting properties and utility work.

Actual range depends on:

  • Cart weight
  • Passenger and cargo load
  • Terrain
  • Tire diameter and tread
  • Lift height
  • Speed
  • Motor and controller efficiency
  • Controller programming
  • Accessory use
  • Temperature
  • Driving style

In many standard 36V carts, the system may provide roughly 30 to 40 miles per charge. Modified carts, larger tires, high speeds, steep terrain and heavy passenger loads can reduce that range.

The important advantage is not a single mileage claim. It is having 4.032kWh of usable lithium energy with a dashboard gauge and Bluetooth monitoring that help the driver see how much power remains.

Built for Hills, Heavy Loads and Rough Terrain

Golf cart performance depends on current capability as well as capacity.

The Epoch 36V 105Ah kit provides:

  • Up to 200A continuous discharge
  • Up to 300A for 15 seconds
  • Up to 700A for two seconds
  • Up to 300A of short-duration charge or regenerative current for 15 seconds

Continuous output helps support sustained demand such as longer hills, passenger loads and rough terrain. Short-duration peak output helps with acceleration and starting on an incline.

The regenerative-current capability is important for compatible carts and controllers that return energy to the battery during braking or downhill travel.

The controller must still be programmed within the battery’s limits. Peak current is not a substitute for adequate continuous-current capability, and no battery should be expected to correct an undersized cable, failing controller or worn motor.

IP67 Protection for Outdoor Cart Use

The 36V golf cart battery uses a sealed steel enclosure with IP67 protection.

That helps protect the battery and BMS from dust, rain, splashes, washdown exposure and temporary water contact under the conditions of the rating.

It is a much stronger foundation for outdoor vehicle use than an unsealed battery installed in a compartment that sees dirt, mud and moisture.

IP67 does not mean the battery should be left in standing water or installed without physical protection. It should still be securely restrained, protected from impact and wired so moisture cannot collect around terminals and connections.

Bluetooth and a Dashboard Gauge

A lead-acid-style voltage meter is a poor way to estimate lithium state of charge because LiFePO4 voltage remains relatively flat through much of the discharge cycle.

Epoch gives the driver two better options:

  • A dashboard gauge for quick state-of-charge visibility while driving
  • Bluetooth app monitoring for battery voltage, current, status and other available information

That combination makes the system easier to understand.

Instead of waiting for the cart to feel slow, the driver can make charging decisions from direct battery information.

Maintenance-Free Ownership

The Epoch lithium conversion eliminates routine flooded lead-acid battery work:

  • No electrolyte levels to check
  • No distilled water to add
  • No equalization charging
  • No acid residue to clean
  • Fewer interconnect cables to inspect
  • Fewer exposed terminals to maintain

Normal vehicle inspections still matter. Owners should check mounting hardware, terminal torque, cable condition, charger connections, fuses, the 12V converter and the battery compartment periodically.

Designed for Easier Installation

A complete kit makes the project much more straightforward than a pieced-together conversion.

A typical installation involves:

  1. Confirming that the cart is a compatible 36V platform.
  2. Removing the existing lead-acid batteries and old interconnect cables.
  3. Inspecting and repairing the battery tray, main cables and terminals.
  4. Securing the Epoch battery with the appropriate configuration-specific hardware.
  5. Connecting the main positive and negative cart cables.
  6. Installing the included 12V converter for compatible accessories.
  7. Mounting and connecting the dashboard state-of-charge gauge.
  8. Connecting the included 36V LiFePO4 charger according to the kit instructions.
  9. Confirming polarity, cable clearance and controller compatibility before powering the cart.

The included charger is matched to the battery’s lithium charging requirements. It replaces the guesswork of trying to reuse an aging lead-acid charger.

Installation is designed to be approachable for experienced DIY owners and repeatable for professional golf cart shops. It is not universally identical across every model year. Tray dimensions, charger-port wiring, cable routing, controller demand and accessory wiring must still be verified.

Why Installers Value a Complete Conversion System

Professional installers need more than a battery that works on a test bench. They need a system they can quote, install, explain and support consistently.

An Epoch complete kit gives the installer:

  • Known battery specifications
  • A matched charger
  • A physical dashboard gauge
  • A 12V accessory converter
  • Bluetooth diagnostics
  • Configuration-specific options
  • U.S.-based technical support
  • Published installation and charging guidance
  • Long-term warranty coverage

That repeatability can reduce custom fabrication, eliminate incompatible accessories and make post-installation support more efficient.

Is the Epoch 36V Golf Cart Kit Right for My Cart?

The 36V 105Ah kit is intended for compatible 36V carts, including available configurations for EZGO TXT, Club Car DS and other installations.

Before ordering, confirm:

  • The cart is currently a 36V system
  • Battery-bay dimensions
  • Controller maximum battery current
  • Motor voltage
  • Solenoid rating
  • Cable size and condition
  • Main fuse or breaker requirements
  • Charger-port wiring
  • 12V accessory requirements
  • Dashboard-gauge mounting location
  • Battery restraint and clearance
  • Regenerative-braking behavior, when applicable

A 36V lithium battery should not be installed in a 48V cart, and a 48V battery should not be used as a shortcut to increase the voltage of a 36V cart.

A voltage conversion requires the complete drivetrain and electrical system to be engineered for the new voltage.

Why Epoch Makes Some of the Best 36V Lithium Trolling Motor Batteries

A trolling motor battery earns its reputation late in the day—not during the first calm hour after launch.

Wind, current, vegetation, GPS anchoring and a heavily loaded tournament boat can expose a weak battery quickly. Falling voltage can reduce thrust, and an inaccurate battery gauge can leave an angler unsure whether there is enough energy to finish the day.

Epoch 36V trolling motor batteries are designed to solve those problems with native-voltage LiFePO4 power, marine-ready enclosures, Bluetooth monitoring, internal heating and capacity options for both weight-conscious and maximum-runtime installations.

One Native 36V Battery Replaces Three Lead-Acid Batteries

A traditional 36V trolling motor bank commonly uses three 12V batteries connected in series.

One Epoch 36V battery can remove:

  • Two battery cases
  • Two series jumper cables
  • Four extra exposed terminals
  • Much of the original battery weight
  • Multiple water-maintenance points
  • Several common corrosion and resistance points

That creates a cleaner rigging compartment and can free valuable space for tackle, pumps, safety equipment or electronics.

Consistent Voltage Helps Maintain Thrust

LiFePO4 holds a flatter working voltage than lead-acid through most of the usable capacity.

That helps a compatible trolling motor maintain more consistent response while:

  • Holding a point with GPS anchoring
  • Working a shoreline
  • Fighting river current
  • Positioning an offshore boat
  • Moving through vegetation
  • Correcting position in gusting wind

The battery cannot change the motor’s maximum designed thrust, but it can reduce the gradual voltage fade that makes an aging lead-acid bank feel weaker as the day continues.

Built for Marine Environments

Epoch offers two purpose-built 36V marine options:

  • The 36V 50Ah Group 31 battery uses an IP65 enclosure that is dust-tight and protected against water jets.
  • The 36V 100Ah battery uses an IP67 enclosure that is dust-tight and designed for temporary water immersion under the conditions of the rating.

Both are built for the humidity, spray, vibration and changing temperatures encountered in marine service.

An IP rating does not make the entire installation waterproof. Terminals, cables, breakers, plugs and chargers must also be protected, and no battery should remain in prolonged standing water.

Internal Heating for Cold-Weather Charging

Both current Epoch 36V trolling motor batteries include internal heating and low-temperature charge protection.

That matters for:

  • Early-spring tournaments
  • Late-fall fishing
  • Northern lakes
  • Cold storage buildings
  • Overnight freezes
  • Waterfowl and winter boating

LiFePO4 cells should not be charged below their approved cell temperature without an appropriate heating strategy.

The Epoch heating system can use incoming charge energy to warm the cells before normal charging begins. The exact charging limits and heating behavior should be confirmed in the selected battery’s manual.

Bluetooth Monitoring Reduces Battery Guesswork

Built-in Bluetooth gives anglers direct visibility into battery conditions from a compatible phone.

Depending on the battery and app version, available information may include:

  • State of charge
  • Battery voltage
  • Charge or discharge current
  • Temperature
  • Cycle data
  • Battery status
  • Protection alerts

This is more useful than estimating lithium capacity from voltage alone.

It also allows an angler to see how different operating conditions affect energy use. GPS anchoring in 20-mile-per-hour wind may consume power very differently from slow shoreline fishing on a calm morning.

High Continuous Output for Modern Trolling Motors

The Epoch 36V 50Ah battery provides up to 100A continuous discharge. The 36V 100Ah battery provides up to 120A continuous discharge.

Those ratings support many compatible high-thrust 36V trolling motors when the motor’s maximum current, breaker, plug, cable gauge and manufacturer requirements all match.

Do not size the battery from thrust rating or brand name alone. Check the motor’s published maximum current and select a battery whose continuous rating meets or exceeds it.

36V 50Ah vs. 36V 100Ah: Which Trolling Motor Battery Should I Choose?

Both Epoch batteries provide native 36V power, heating, Bluetooth monitoring, advanced BMS protection and long-term warranty coverage.

The right choice depends on runtime, weight, installation space and how the boat is used.

Choose the 36V 50Ah Group 31 Battery for Maximum Weight and Space Savings

The Epoch 36V 50Ah Essential Series battery provides:

  • 50Ah of capacity
  • Approximately 1.92kWh of stored energy
  • Up to 100A continuous discharge
  • Up to 130A for 10 seconds
  • Approximately 35-pound weight
  • Group 31 footprint
  • IP65 enclosure protection
  • Internal heating
  • Bluetooth monitoring
  • Up to four matched batteries in parallel
  • More than 4,000 rated cycles
  • 11-year manufacturer warranty

Its dimensions are approximately 13.0 inches long, 6.8 inches wide and 9.44 inches high.

Choose the 50Ah battery when:

  • Removing the greatest possible amount of weight is important.
  • The boat already has one or more Group 31 trays.
  • The trolling motor is used intermittently or at moderate average power.
  • Most fishing occurs in relatively calm conditions.
  • The angler wants a modular bank that can be expanded later.
  • Individual battery portability matters.
  • Battery-compartment space is narrow or divided.

A single 50Ah battery can provide a full day for an efficient system with a low average current draw. It is not automatically an all-day battery for a heavy boat holding position continuously in strong wind.

Choose the 36V 100Ah Battery for Maximum Single-Battery Runtime

The Epoch 36V 100Ah battery provides:

  • 100Ah of capacity
  • Approximately 3.84kWh of stored energy
  • Up to 120A continuous discharge
  • Up to 200A for 60 seconds
  • Approximately 75-pound weight
  • IP67 enclosure protection
  • Internal heating
  • Bluetooth monitoring
  • Up to four matched batteries in parallel
  • More than 3,500 rated cycles
  • 11-year manufacturer warranty

Its dimensions are approximately 20 inches long, 10.25 inches wide and 11 inches high.

Choose the 100Ah battery when:

  • Long runtime matters more than minimum battery weight.
  • The boat frequently uses GPS anchoring.
  • Fishing days are long.
  • Wind and current can create sustained demand.
  • The boat is large, heavy or equipment-intensive.
  • One battery is preferred over a multi-battery parallel bank.
  • IP67 protection is desirable for the installation location.
  • Additional reserve is more valuable than keeping a Group 31 footprint.

The 100Ah model stores twice the energy of the 50Ah model and is the stronger one-battery choice for tournament anglers who want to size for difficult conditions rather than a calm-day estimate.

What Size 36V Lithium Battery Do I Need for a Full Day of Fishing?

“Full day” is not a battery specification.

For one angler, it may mean six hours of intermittent shoreline fishing. For another, it may mean 12 to 15 hours of repeated GPS anchoring in heavy wind.

The correct capacity depends on the trolling motor’s average current over the complete day.

First Confirm Maximum Current

Find the trolling motor’s maximum current draw in the manufacturer’s documentation.

The battery’s continuous-discharge rating must meet or exceed that value. The breaker, cable, plug and connections must also support the current.

A battery’s peak rating should not be used as its normal continuous rating.

Then Estimate Average Current

Runtime can be estimated with:

Runtime in hours = usable amp-hours ÷ average current in amps

For conservative planning, preserve approximately 10% reserve:

Planning runtime = battery amp-hours × 0.90 ÷ average current

Average current is often much lower than maximum current because the motor may spend part of the day:

  • Operating at low speed
  • Making short GPS-anchor corrections
  • Stowed while the outboard is running
  • Off while the angler reties or lands a fish
  • Drifting with wind or current
  • Moving only between nearby targets

A motor running continuously near maximum thrust will use the battery much faster.

Estimated Runtime from One 36V 50Ah Battery

With a 10% planning reserve, a 50Ah battery provides approximately 45Ah for runtime calculations.

Estimated runtime is approximately:

  • 9 hours at a 5A average draw
  • 4.5 hours at a 10A average draw
  • 3 hours at a 15A average draw
  • 2.25 hours at a 20A average draw
  • 1.5 hours at a 30A average draw
  • 1.1 hours at a 40A average draw

For a 10-hour day, average draw must remain near 4.5A or less.

For a 12-hour day, average draw must remain near 3.75A or less.

For a 15-hour tournament day, average draw must remain near 3A or less.

This can be realistic for an efficient motor used intermittently in moderate conditions. It is not realistic for continuous high-thrust operation.

Estimated Runtime from One 36V 100Ah Battery

With a 10% planning reserve, a 100Ah battery provides approximately 90Ah for planning.

Estimated runtime is approximately:

  • 18 hours at a 5A average draw
  • 9 hours at a 10A average draw
  • 6 hours at a 15A average draw
  • 4.5 hours at a 20A average draw
  • 3 hours at a 30A average draw
  • 2.25 hours at a 40A average draw

For a 10-hour day, average draw must remain near 9A or less.

For a 12-hour day, average draw must remain near 7.5A or less.

For a 15-hour day, average draw must remain near 6A or less.

A 100Ah battery gives the angler twice the energy reserve of a 50Ah battery and provides much more tolerance for changing wind, current and fishing plans.

Capacity Required for a 10-Hour Fishing Day

With a 10% reserve:

  • A 5A average draw requires approximately 56Ah.
  • A 10A average draw requires approximately 111Ah.
  • A 15A average draw requires approximately 167Ah.
  • A 20A average draw requires approximately 222Ah.
  • A 30A average draw requires approximately 333Ah.

Capacity Required for a 12-Hour Fishing Day

With a 10% reserve:

  • A 5A average draw requires approximately 67Ah.
  • A 10A average draw requires approximately 133Ah.
  • A 15A average draw requires approximately 200Ah.
  • A 20A average draw requires approximately 267Ah.
  • A 30A average draw requires approximately 400Ah.

These figures show why no honest manufacturer can promise that one battery will last all day on every boat.

The best approach is to monitor actual current with the Epoch Bluetooth app during representative conditions, calculate the real average and add reserve for difficult weather.

Why Multiple 36V 50Ah Group 31 Batteries Make Sense for Tournament Boats

A single 36V 100Ah battery is the simplest long-runtime solution, but it is not always the best physical layout for every tournament boat.

Many boats already have battery trays designed around Group 31 cases. The Epoch 36V 50Ah battery fits that familiar footprint and supports up to four matched batteries in parallel.

That gives professional-style installations a modular way to increase capacity without requiring one very large case.

Parallel Capacity Options

Matched 36V 50Ah batteries can create:

  • Two batteries in parallel: 100Ah and approximately 3.84kWh
  • Three batteries in parallel: 150Ah and approximately 5.76kWh
  • Four batteries in parallel: 200Ah and approximately 7.68kWh

With a 10% reserve, the approximate average current supported for a 15-hour day is:

  • One 50Ah battery: 3A
  • Two 50Ah batteries: 6A
  • Three 50Ah batteries: 9A
  • Four 50Ah batteries: 12A

For a 12-hour day:

  • One 50Ah battery: 3.75A
  • Two 50Ah batteries: 7.5A
  • Three 50Ah batteries: 11.25A
  • Four 50Ah batteries: 15A

This modular approach lets the angler size the bank around measured demand instead of choosing between only 50Ah and 100Ah.

Why the Group 31 Footprint Matters

The 36V 50Ah battery can fit many existing Group 31 tray locations.

That can allow an installer to:

  • Reuse familiar battery positions
  • Distribute weight across the boat
  • Avoid one oversized battery compartment
  • Remove or service one 35-pound battery at a time
  • Add capacity without redesigning the entire rigging bay
  • Preserve access to pumps, chargers and electronics

A single 75-pound 100Ah battery may be simpler electrically, but two 35-pound Group 31 batteries may be easier to place and handle in a divided compartment.

Added Capacity with a Degree of Operational Redundancy

A properly engineered parallel bank uses multiple independent battery cases and BMS units.

If one battery is intentionally isolated or becomes unavailable, the remaining batteries may be able to continue operating the trolling motor, provided their combined current and remaining capacity are sufficient.

That can provide a degree of operational redundancy for tournament use.

It should not be described as a guaranteed fail-safe system. A shared cable, breaker, busbar, charger or trolling-motor connection can still create a single point of failure, and the remaining batteries may be overloaded if the bank is not designed for the reduced configuration.

True redundancy requires thoughtful circuit design, individual battery protection and a clear isolation strategy.

Single 100Ah Battery vs. Two 50Ah Batteries

Both choices provide approximately 100Ah and 3.84kWh.

Choose one 36V 100Ah battery when you prefer:

  • One BMS
  • Fewer cables and terminals
  • One battery to monitor
  • IP67 enclosure protection
  • 120A continuous output
  • The cleanest electrical installation
  • One large compartment with sufficient access

Choose two 36V 50Ah Group 31 batteries when you prefer:

  • Existing Group 31 tray compatibility
  • Two lighter battery cases
  • Flexible physical placement
  • Modular serviceability
  • A degree of battery-level redundancy
  • A bank that can later expand to 150Ah or 200Ah
  • Capacity distributed across separate compartments

Neither approach is universally better. The best design depends on the boat’s space, weight distribution, required runtime, wiring and service strategy.

How to Build a Parallel Bank Correctly

Use only matched batteries approved for parallel connection.

A professional parallel installation should use:

  • The same Epoch model
  • The same capacity
  • Batteries of similar age
  • Similar state of charge before connection
  • Equal-length positive and negative battery cables
  • Properly sized busbars
  • Individual battery protection where required
  • A correctly rated main breaker or fuse
  • Marine-grade cable and sealed lugs
  • Secure battery restraints
  • A charger sized for the total bank
  • Balanced current paths
  • Clear labeling and service access

Do not mix a 36V 50Ah battery with a 36V 100Ah battery in one parallel bank.

How to Charge an Epoch 36V Lithium Battery

A 36V LiFePO4 battery requires a compatible 36V lithium charging profile.

Do not assume that an older 36V lead-acid golf cart or marine charger is suitable. Lead-acid chargers may use equalization, desulfation or voltage behavior that is inappropriate for LiFePO4.

Epoch 36V 15A Lithium Charger

Epoch offers a dedicated 36V 15A LiFePO4 charger for compatible batteries.

The charger uses:

  • A 36V lithium charging profile
  • Standard 120V AC input
  • Ring-terminal DC output
  • IP67 enclosure protection
  • Shock-resistant construction
  • Built-in charging protections

The 36V 105Ah golf cart complete kit includes a matched 15A charger. For the 36V 50Ah and 100Ah marine batteries, the compatible charger is available separately.

The charger may be mounted as a semi-permanent onboard marine charger in a dry, secure location with correct cable routing and strain relief.

Approximate Charge Times

Ideal bulk-stage time can be estimated as:

Battery amp-hours ÷ charger amps = approximate charging hours

Allow additional time for the final charging stage, battery balancing and system losses.

Approximate times from fully depleted with a 15A charger are:

  • 50Ah battery: about 3.3 hours plus final top-off
  • 100Ah battery: about 6.7 hours plus final top-off
  • 105Ah golf cart battery: about 7 hours plus final top-off
  • 150Ah parallel bank: about 10 hours plus final top-off
  • 200Ah parallel bank: about 13.3 hours plus final top-off

Most batteries will not begin every charge at zero state of charge, so normal recharge time may be shorter.

A large tournament bank may require more charging time than one compact 50Ah battery. Size the charging system around the energy that must be replaced before the next launch.

Charge While Running the Outboard

For compatible marine systems, a 12V-to-36V or dual-output marine DC-to-DC charger can use energy from a compatible starter-battery and alternator system to provide regulated charging to the 36V trolling motor battery while the outboard is running.

This charge-on-the-run strategy can replace part of the energy used between fishing locations.

It does not create unlimited runtime. Charging depends on alternator capacity, engine runtime, charger output, source-system loads and battery conditions.

Never connect a 36V battery directly to a 12V alternator or starting battery.

Charging with Solar

A 36V lithium battery can also be charged from solar when the system uses an MPPT controller that supports the battery’s voltage and charging range.

The solar controller must be selected for:

  • Solar-array open-circuit voltage
  • Maximum panel current
  • 36V battery compatibility
  • Controller charge-current rating
  • The battery’s approved charge voltage
  • Temperature and installation environment

Solar panels should not normally be connected directly to the battery.

Cold-Weather Charging

The 36V 50Ah and 100Ah marine batteries include internal heating.

The 36V 105Ah golf cart battery does not list internal self-heating. It includes low-temperature charge protection and should be charged within its published temperature range.

Do not assume every Epoch 36V battery has the same cold-weather behavior.

Trolling Motors and Fishing Boats

The 36V 50Ah and 100Ah batteries support compatible:

  • Tournament bass boats
  • Bay boats
  • Center consoles
  • Pontoons
  • Aluminum fishing boats
  • Multi-species boats
  • High-thrust trolling motors
  • GPS-anchoring systems
  • Offshore-positioning applications
  • Marine electronics and 36V auxiliary loads

Compatibility is determined by voltage and current requirements, not brand name alone.

36V Lithium Batteries vs. Lead-Acid Batteries

More Consistent Performance

Lead-acid voltage declines as capacity is used. LiFePO4 maintains steadier voltage through most of the usable charge.

This helps compatible carts and trolling motors feel more consistent later in the day.

More Usable Capacity

Lithium batteries allow deeper routine cycling within their specified limits.

A 36V 50Ah lithium battery can provide planned usable energy comparable to a much larger nominal lead-acid bank that is operated conservatively.

Lower Weight

Replacing several lead-acid batteries with one Epoch lithium battery can remove well over 100 pounds from some installations.

Fewer Connections

One native 36V battery eliminates several series cables and terminals.

Better Monitoring

Bluetooth-equipped Epoch batteries provide direct battery information rather than relying on voltage alone.

U.S.-Based Support, Dealers and Long-Term Warranty Coverage

A 36V lithium battery is a long-term investment, and the system surrounding it may include a motor controller, trolling motor, charger, converter, gauge, cabling and protection.

Epoch provides U.S.-based customer and technical support for:

  • Product selection
  • Cart and motor compatibility questions
  • Charging guidance
  • Bluetooth monitoring
  • Parallel-bank planning
  • Troubleshooting
  • Product registration
  • Warranty assistance

Epoch also works with authorized dealers, installers and integration partners. Customers who prefer local help can use the Epoch dealer locator to identify available support in their area.

Every battery currently shown in the 36V collection carries an 11-year manufacturer warranty. Registration, proof of purchase and the applicable warranty terms are required.

A low-priced battery can become expensive when there is no one to answer the phone, no compatible charger, no replacement documentation and no local installation path.

Epoch combines the battery with the support structure needed to own it confidently.
