When an RV relies on a large inverter for cooking, work, climate control and everyday house loads, the battery system needs to do more than hold a charge. A spread-out lead-acid bank takes up storage space while commonly yielding only a conservative share of its rated capacity in routine use. Epoch 48V LiFePO4 batteries bring 5.12kWh of stored energy into one Group 8D-style case, with Bluetooth monitoring and built-in battery management for a properly designed high-demand RV system.
These batteries suit custom camper vans, expedition rigs, motorhomes and fifth wheels being built around a 48V house bank. Lithium's deeper usable discharge and compact energy storage are the reasons to expect more practical power for the space compared with many lead-acid arrangements. The voltage itself does not add watt-hours; 48V makes it easier to deliver high inverter wattage at lower DC current than a comparable 12V design.
Epoch's 48V RV battery collection has two native 48V Elite models. Both include Bluetooth, internal heating, Victron communications and an IP67 case. Choose between them according to the complete wiring and protection plan for your RV.
That energy density matters when a fifth-wheel front compartment also holds an inverter and tools, or when a van must make room for water and living space. Compare the entire old lead-acid bank against the new design by usable watt-hours, weight and installed footprint. Allow room for cable bends, disconnect access, mounting hardware and the other components a 48V system needs. One 5.12kWh battery does not promise an overnight air-conditioning runtime; actual loads and charging determine how long the rig can stay off-grid.
Both batteries in this RV collection use 51.2V nominal LiFePO4 chemistry and provide 100Ah of capacity. Their 150A continuous battery output can support a properly matched 48V inverter, subject to surge limits and the ratings of every component in the path. The practical difference is the V2-T's integrated fuse architecture.
| Epoch battery | Shared core specifications | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|
| 48V 100Ah V2 Elite | 5.12kWh; Group 8D footprint; 150A continuous; Bluetooth, heated, IP67. | Native Victron communication for a compatible integrated RV power system. |
| 48V 100Ah V2-T Elite | 5.12kWh; Group 8D footprint; 150A continuous; Bluetooth, heated, IP67. | Victron communication plus a user-serviceable 250A Class T fuse inside the case. |
Consider the available bay, how the battery will be restrained during travel, service access and where the inverter, distribution and charging equipment will sit. An IP67 battery enclosure does not make adjacent wiring or electronics waterproof. Match the installation to the battery's current manual, including its communication and fuse requirements.
Both Epoch 48V Elite models let you use a compatible phone nearby to see state of charge, voltage, temperature and other battery data. Check it before a long evening of inverter use, after an overnight refrigerator cycle or when cloudy weather limits solar charging. That visibility can help you decide when to reduce demand, recharge from shore power or run a generator through the proper charging system.
Each battery has a BMS that helps protect against overcharge, excessive discharge, overcurrent and unsafe temperature conditions within its specifications. Both also communicate with compatible Victron GX equipment when installed and configured according to Epoch's instructions. Bluetooth is a local view; remote system monitoring requires suitable connected equipment and service. Correct wiring, fusing and charging remain essential to dependable use.
Internal heating uses available incoming charge power to warm the cells before charging in freezing conditions. That can matter when solar starts producing on a cold morning at a ski-area campsite. Confirm temperature limits, charging power and installation requirements in the chosen model's manual. Heating is a useful safeguard, not a substitute for a charging plan.
These Elite batteries are IP67 rated for dust and water ingress when installed correctly, making them useful in demanding mobile environments. Keep terminals and other electrical equipment within their own ratings, protect cables from abrasion and prevent cargo from shifting into the battery. Secure mounting matters as much on a rough access road as it does on the highway.
A 48V battery should feed a compatible 48V inverter or inverter/charger for AC appliances. The inverter's surge rating, battery output limit, protective devices and wiring must all cover loads such as a microwave, induction cooktop or air conditioner. A 5.12kWh case may support several ordinary house loads for a long stop, yet high-wattage appliances can use that energy quickly. Size by daily watt-hours and the largest simultaneous load, then add reserve for weather and travel plans.
Most existing RV lights, pumps, fans, controllers and other DC circuits are 12V. They cannot be connected directly to the 48V battery. A correctly sized 48V-to-12V DC-DC converter can supply a 12V distribution system; plan for its continuous and starting loads and preserve essential safety circuits. An existing 12V shore converter cannot recharge the 48V bank. Shore power or a generator needs an appropriate 48V LiFePO4 charger or inverter/charger, and roof solar needs a controller configured for the 48V battery.
Charging from a 12V vehicle alternator calls for a properly engineered, current-limited 12V-to-48V DC-DC path with adequate alternator capacity. Do not connect the alternator directly to the lithium bank. A qualified RV electrical installer can coordinate all charge sources, fuses, disconnects and Victron communications before the first trip.
A native 48V lithium battery may simplify replacement of an existing 48V lead-acid house bank if its charging and protection are updated. Converting a typical 12V RV is a broader system redesign. Do not connect 48V directly to a 12V fuse panel or mix lead-acid and lithium in one house bank. If extra energy is needed, follow Epoch's instructions for matched parallel batteries rather than series stacking these native 48V models.
Epoch 48V LiFePO4 batteries offer a compact foundation for high-demand RV house power: 5.12kWh in one case, local Bluetooth visibility, internal heating and BMS protection. Their appeal over lead acid is more usable energy in valuable space with less routine battery care, when paired with the right inverter, charging and 12V conversion equipment.

Epoch’s 48V 100Ah Elite batteries store 5.12kWh in a single Group 8D-style case, providing substantial usable energy for large RV inverters without requiring a spread-out lead-acid bank. At the same power level, a 48V architecture carries approximately one-quarter of the battery-side current of a comparable 12V system. This makes Epoch especially well suited to custom motorhomes, camper vans, expedition rigs, and fifth wheels powering cooking, work, and climate-control equipment.
Both the V2 Elite and V2-T Elite provide 150A continuous output alongside Bluetooth monitoring, internal heating, battery-management protection, Victron communication, and an IP67-rated enclosure. The V2-T model also incorporates a user-serviceable 250A Class T fuse. Together, these features provide convenient battery visibility, supported cold-weather charging, reduced maintenance, and strong integration with compatible high-end RV electrical systems.
Epoch combines concentrated energy storage, deep-cycle performance, lower-current power delivery, and intelligent features in a focused 48V product range. When paired with a compatible inverter-charger, solar controller, properly sized protection, and a suitable 48V-to-12V converter for existing RV circuits, these batteries form a reliable platform for demanding off-grid use. This balance of efficiency, durability, monitoring, and system integration makes Epoch the best all-around solution for a professionally designed 48V RV power system.
