The Victron Phoenix Smart IP43 charger solves a common marine and RV challenge: charging a large 12V house battery bank while keeping a separate starter battery ready. The primary output delivers up to 50A of multi-stage charging power to a substantial 12V house bank. The secondary “+1” output is limited to 4A maximum and operates at a slightly lower output voltage, making it ideal for maintaining or topping up a separate starter battery.
This design reduces charger count and wiring complexity in boats, motorhomes, commercial vehicles, and off-grid systems that use separate house and starting batteries.
The main output rapidly replenishes a 12V house bank after extended anchoring, boondocking, or off-grid use. Low-current mode reduces the output to 25A when a lower charge rate is preferred.
The limited starter output keeps an engine-starting or generator battery topped up while the primary channel handles the house bank. It is a maintenance output, not a second full-current 50A charger.
