12V & 36V Onboard Marine Lithium Battery Charger | 2-Bank System

The all-in-one 12V 36V onboard marine battery charger for a 12V cranking or house battery plus a native 36V LiFePO4 trolling-motor battery.

Built for bass boats and mixed-voltage marine systems, the Epoch marine charger replaces separate chargers with one permanently mounted 2-bank marine charger. Its independent 12V 15A and 36V 10A outputs charge both batteries simultaneously, while IP67 construction, lithium BMS activation, M8 ring terminals, LED indicators, and built-in protection simplify every trip back to the dock.

Simplify Your Bass Boat: The All-In-One Charging Solution

One AC plug replaces separate 12V and 36V chargers without combining the battery systems.

Modern bass boats often use a 12V cranking or house battery alongside a native 36V lithium trolling-motor battery. This dual-voltage lithium charger manages those two systems independently, reducing portable-charger clutter, extension-cord juggling, and loose temporary clips around the bilge.

The 12V output includes selectable chemistry modes, while the 36V output is dedicated to LiFePO4. Each bank has its own charging logic, status display, battery leads, and activation control.

Dedicated 12V and 36V Charging Banks

Bank 1 provides 12V at 15A with selectable LiFePO4, lead-acid, and AGM modes. Bank 2 provides 36V at 10A for a compatible native 36V LiFePO4 battery. Both banks can operate at the same time.

Smart Charge Control and Lithium BMS Activation

Charge output tapers as the battery fills, status changes from red to green, and the charger automatically stops after full charge. Compatible sleeping lithium batteries can be activated by holding the appropriate bank button for 3–5 seconds.

Built to Survive Demanding Marine Environments

Epoxy-filled ingress protection, active thermal management, and permanent bolted connections.

IP67 Epoxy-Filled Construction

The enclosure is filled with epoxy resin for IP67 ingress protection in correctly installed onboard environments. Inspect cables, glands, seals, mounting points, and the AC connection regularly; IP67 does not make damaged wiring or an unsafe installation acceptable.

Aluminum Heat Sink and Waterproof Cooling Fan

This is not a fanless charger. An aluminum housing, bottom cooling plate, and temperature-controlled waterproof fan work together to manage heat during charging. Maintain the required clearance and never block the fan or cooling surfaces.

Secure Onboard Mounting

Six mounting points, M6 hardware recommendations, pre-wired ring terminals, and a compact 10.79 × 9.65-inch footprint support permanent installation. Secure mounting helps prevent movement and cable fatigue during trailering and rough water.

Easy Onboard Installation

Bolt the ring terminals to the correct batteries, select the 12V chemistry, and connect one grounded AC plug.

Red ring terminals connect to battery positive and black ring terminals to negative. Route each lead to its labeled battery voltage, protect the cables from abrasion, secure the charger to a rigid surface, and maintain more than 30mm of cooling clearance.

Confirm polarity, voltage, battery chemistry, charge-current limits, and battery temperature before connecting the grounded AC supply. The protection circuits are safeguards—not permission to guess at the wiring.

Marine charging safety note

Battery charging combines shore power, high DC current, confined compartments, and wet environments.

Use a grounded outlet and suitable shore-power practices. Disconnect AC before servicing battery connections. Never place tools across battery terminals, never charge a frozen or damaged battery, keep adequate ventilation around batteries and the charger, and follow the supplied manual plus each battery manufacturer's instructions. Use qualified marine-electrical help where required.

Frequently asked questions

12V & 36V Onboard Marine Charger FAQs

Common questions about simultaneous charging, battery chemistry, onboard mounting, BMS activation, cooling, and protection.

Can I charge my 12V starting battery and 36V trolling-motor battery at the same time?

Yes. The charger has two independently operating banks: a 12V 15A bank and a 36V 10A bank. The 12V bank can be set to LiFePO4, lead-acid, or AGM mode, while the 36V bank is dedicated to a compatible 36V LiFePO4 battery. Match each bank to the correct battery before connecting AC power.

Can I use the 36V bank on three 12V batteries wired in series?

Epoch publishes the 36V output for a compatible 36V LiFePO4 battery. Do not assume that one 36V output will correctly balance three independent 12V batteries connected in series. Follow the individual battery manufacturer's series-charging instructions; use a multi-bank 12V charger when each 12V battery must be charged and balanced separately.

Can I permanently mount this charger inside my boat?

Yes. It is designed as an onboard charger and uses an IP67 epoxy-filled enclosure. Mount it securely with the published 6.5mm mounting holes and appropriate M6 hardware, maintain more than 30mm of clearance, and keep the cooling area unobstructed. IP67 does not excuse damaged cables, loose glands, poor mounting, or unsafe AC connections.

Is the charger fanless?

No. The charger uses an aluminum housing and bottom cooling plate together with a temperature-controlled waterproof cooling fan. The fan operates as needed for heat management. Install the charger with the cooling surfaces and fan area clear of obstructions.

Can I leave the charger connected after both batteries are full?

The published charger logic automatically stops charging after a battery reaches full charge, and the LED changes from red to green. For extended unattended storage, follow the supplied charger manual and both battery manufacturers' storage guidance, inspect the installation periodically, and do not treat any charger as a substitute for proper battery maintenance and system isolation.

Can the charger wake a lithium battery whose BMS has shut down?

Yes, for compatible sleeping lithium batteries. Hold the MODE button on the 12V bank or the ACTIVATE button on the 36V bank for approximately 3–5 seconds. The activation feature is intended to wake a BMS that has entered low-voltage protection; it cannot repair a damaged, frozen, or unsafe battery.

Can the 12V bank charge an AGM or lead-acid starting battery?

Yes. The 12V bank provides selectable LiFePO4, lead-acid, and AGM modes through the MODE button. Confirm the battery manufacturer permits the selected charging profile. The 36V bank is LiFePO4-only and should not be used on 36V lead-acid or AGM batteries.

What happens if I reverse the polarity?

The charger includes reverse-connection and short-circuit protection. Even so, verify red-to-positive and black-to-negative before energizing the charger. Reverse-polarity protection does not make a wrong-voltage connection safe—never connect the 36V lead to a 12V battery or the 12V lead to a 36V battery.

Can I charge a frozen LiFePO4 battery?

No. Do not charge a frozen battery. Epoch states that LiFePO4 batteries should not be charged below 0°C / 32°F unless the battery has an approved internal heating system or its manufacturer expressly permits below-freezing charging. The charger does not replace the battery's low-temperature protection.

How fast will each bank charge?

Approximate charging time can be estimated by dividing the battery's amp-hour capacity by the bank's output—15A for the 12V bank and 10A for the 36V bank—then allowing additional time for charge tapering, balancing, temperature, and battery condition. Never exceed the battery manufacturer's maximum charge-current limit.
