24V Lithium Batteries

24V Lithium Batteries

Maximize Efficiency with Premium 24V Lithium Batteries

The traditional way to build a 24-volt power system is to wire two heavy 12V lead-acid batteries in series. That arrangement occupies two battery locations, adds a series jumper and creates more terminals that must remain clean and tight. In many marine and mobile installations, the finished bank can weigh well over 100 pounds before trays, hold-downs and cabling are included.

Epoch 24V lithium batteries place native 24-volt LiFePO4 power inside one managed battery platform. A single 24V lithium battery can simplify the installation, reduce weight and deliver more consistent deep-cycle voltage when its energy, current output, physical dimensions and charging requirements match the system. The integrated Battery Management System monitors the cells together instead of relying on two separate 12V batteries and two independent BMS units.

Current Epoch options include compact 60Ah power for trolling motors and mobile systems, a 100Ah battery for extended runtime, and high-capacity 230Ah Essential and Elite models for large RV, marine, inverter and off-grid applications. Cycle-life ratings currently range from 3,500+ to 6,000+ cycles by model, and every battery shown in the collection carries an 11-year manufacturer warranty.

The Single-Battery Advantage: Ditching Dual 12V Systems

When comparing two 12V batteries vs. one 24V battery, the native-voltage option offers several practical advantages:

  • More usable installation space: One case can free a second tray location in a boat's rigging compartment, an RV battery bay or a camper van's under-bed electrical cabinet. The exact space saved depends on the replacement bank and the dimensions of the selected Epoch battery.
  • No external series jumper: A native 24V battery connects to the 24V load through the main positive and negative terminals, eliminating the inter-battery series cable used between two 12V batteries. Fewer exposed connections can simplify inspection and reduce potential corrosion or resistance points.
  • Substantial weight reduction: The Epoch 24V 60Ah Pro Series battery stores 1.54kWh and weighs approximately 30 pounds. The 24V 100Ah model stores 2.56kWh and weighs approximately 48.5 pounds. Compare stored and usable energy—not weight alone—when replacing a lead-acid bank.
  • Unified cell monitoring: One internal BMS monitors the complete 24V pack for conditions such as excessive charge, discharge, current and temperature. Two 12V batteries in series each manage themselves independently and can drift apart in state of charge if they are mismatched, aged differently or charged unevenly.
  • Simpler system visibility: Bluetooth-equipped Epoch batteries report the status of one native-voltage pack. This removes the need to compare two separate battery readings when diagnosing a series-bank issue.

24V LiFePO4 vs. Lead-Acid Voltage Discharge Curve

The representative graph below shows why a 24V LiFePO4 battery can deliver steadier performance through most of a discharge. A 25.6V-nominal LiFePO4 pack remains near its working voltage for much of the cycle, while a 24V lead-acid bank made from two 12V batteries declines more progressively as stored capacity is used.

Representative 24V LiFePO4 and 24V lead-acid discharge curves A solid LiFePO4 curve drops from full-charge voltage and then remains near 26 volts through most of the discharge before falling near empty. A dashed lead-acid curve declines progressively from about 25.4 volts toward 21 volts as capacity is used. 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 0 20 40 60 80 100 Capacity Used (%) Approximate Terminal Voltage (V) Common lead-acid planning point: about 50% used* 24V LiFePO4 24V Lead-Acid Bank
Illustrative comparison under a moderate, steady load; this is not an Epoch product test. Actual voltage varies with battery construction, discharge current, temperature, age, wiring losses and BMS or equipment cutoff settings. A 24V-class Epoch LiFePO4 battery is typically 25.6V nominal, while a traditional 24V lead-acid bank uses two 12V batteries in series. *The 50% marker is a common lead-acid system-planning guideline, not a universal hard cutoff.

Top Applications for 24-Volt Lithium Power

24V Lithium Trolling Motor Batteries

A 24V lithium trolling motor battery is commonly paired with compatible 70- to 90-pound-thrust motors on bass boats, bay boats, pontoons and other mid-sized rigs. The flatter LiFePO4 discharge curve helps the motor maintain steadier response while working structure, fighting wind and current or holding a GPS anchor position. Always confirm the motor's voltage, maximum current draw, breaker size, cable gauge and manufacturer battery guidance.

Epoch's 24V 60Ah Pro Series battery provides 1.54kWh of stored energy, 80A continuous output, Bluetooth monitoring, internal heating, IP67 protection and Victron-ready communications in a 30-pound Group 27 footprint. The 24V 100Ah battery increases stored energy to 2.56kWh and continuous output to 120A for compatible systems that need greater runtime or current capacity.

RV and Camper Van Electrical Systems

A 24V RV lithium battery can be an efficient foundation for a custom van, skoolie, expedition vehicle or larger RV electrical build. At the same wattage, doubling system voltage approximately halves DC current. A 3,000W load draws about 117A at 25.6V before conversion losses, compared with about 234A at 12.8V. Lower current can reduce voltage drop and may allow smaller conductors when cable length, insulation, temperature, fuse requirements and applicable standards are properly considered.

This architecture can suit 2,000W- to 3,000W-class inverters, but system voltage alone does not determine inverter capability. The selected battery's continuous BMS output, inverter surge, cabling, busbars, fuses and charging equipment must all support the load. Native 12V appliances also require a correctly sized 24V-to-12V converter.

Off-Grid Solar and Backup Power

A 24 volt solar battery is a practical choice for cabins, workshops, remote communications, mobile work trailers and backup systems. At the same controller output-current rating, a 24V battery platform can accept roughly twice the charging wattage of a 12V platform, subject to the controller's PV-input limits and the battery's maximum charge rate. Size the solar array, MPPT controller, battery bank, inverter and protection devices as one coordinated system.

Sizing Your 24V System: 60Ah, 100Ah and 230Ah

60Ah Compact Power—and What 24V 50Ah Shoppers Should Know

A theoretical 24V 50Ah lithium battery stores about 1.28kWh, the same nominal energy as a 12V 100Ah battery. Epoch's current compact option is 60Ah rather than 50Ah, providing 1.536kWh of stored energy. It is well suited to many weekend fishing, compact marine, mobile and small off-grid applications when its 80A continuous rating provides enough current and the expected runtime matches your use.

100Ah for Extended Trolling and General-Purpose Storage

A 24V 100Ah lithium battery stores approximately 2.56kWh—twice the energy of a 24V 50Ah pack and about 67% more than the current 60Ah model. It is a strong option for anglers facing longer days or heavier conditions and for RV or solar systems with larger daily energy budgets. Estimate runtime by dividing usable amp-hours by average load current, then reserve capacity for wind, current, cold weather, conversion losses and unexpected use.

230Ah for Large Inverters and Long Off-Grid Runtime

Epoch's 24V 230Ah batteries store 5.89kWh in a single case. The 230Ah Essential Series battery offers 200A continuous output, Bluetooth, heating and IP54 protection for protected RV, marine and off-grid compartments. The 230Ah V2 Elite Series battery adds IP67 construction, native Victron CANBus communication and a 500A 30-second peak rating, with 110A continuous output. Select the model by continuous and surge requirements, communications, enclosure rating and installation environment—not capacity alone.

24V Lithium Battery FAQs

Can I replace two 12V batteries with one 24V lithium battery?

Yes, in a compatible 24V system. Match the replacement battery's watt-hours, continuous and peak output, dimensions, terminal layout and charging profile to the existing load. A native 24V battery can reduce weight, free space and eliminate the series jumper between two 12V batteries.

Do I need a special charger for a 24V lithium battery?

Use a 24V charger or programmable charging component with a LiFePO4 profile that matches the selected battery. Current Epoch models generally specify bulk or absorption charging around 28.4V to 28.8V, with equalization and lead-acid desulfation disabled. Follow the exact manual because settings and maximum charge current vary by model.

How long will a 24V 50Ah lithium battery run my trolling motor?

Runtime depends on average motor current, speed setting, wind, current, vegetation and boat load, so thrust rating alone cannot guarantee a full day. As a simple estimate, divide usable amp-hours by average current: 50Ah at a constant 10A is about five hours, while 50Ah at 20A is about 2.5 hours. Epoch's current compact 24V model is 60Ah, which provides proportionally more runtime under the same conditions.

Why choose a 24V system instead of a 12V system for my camper van?

At the same power, a 24V system carries about half the current of a 12V system. That can reduce voltage drop, cable heating and conductor-size requirements in high-power inverter installations when the system is engineered correctly. A 24V build may require DC converters for lights, pumps and other equipment designed only for 12V operation.

Can I wire two 24V lithium batteries in parallel?

Many Epoch 24V batteries support parallel expansion, but the maximum number varies by model. Use identical batteries of the same model, age, capacity and state of charge, and follow the manual for balanced cabling, common busbars, individual overcurrent protection, charger sizing and communication setup.

Cycle life is rated per model, at the depth of discharge, charge rate and temperature stated on the datasheet, to its end-of-life capacity.

What these specs mean
Energy (kWh)
Nominal stored energy: the pack's nominal voltage times its amp-hours. kWh compares batteries across system voltages; amp-hours compare only at the same voltage.
Max output
The most current the battery is rated to deliver continuously. Match it to your largest load, such as a trolling motor or an inverter.
Peak
A short burst above the continuous rating, held for the time shown. It is not a cold cranking amps (CCA) rating.
Weight
The battery's weight in pounds; for a kit of several modules, the whole kit.
Size
The BCI group is the industry case footprint; dimensions are length × width × height in inches. Verify tray dimensions, terminals, wiring and charging-system compatibility before installation.
Cycle life
Rated charge and discharge cycles. Cycle life is rated per model, at the depth of discharge, charge rate and temperature stated on the datasheet, to its end-of-life capacity.
Warranty
The model's limited warranty term; terms vary by model.
Series / parallel
Series wiring adds voltage (two 12V batteries make 24V); parallel wiring adds capacity. Stay within each model's limits, and never wire a parallel-only model in series.
IP rating
Dust and water protection under IEC 60529: the first digit is solids, the second water. IP54 is splash and dust resistant, IP65 is dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IP67 is dust-tight and rated for temporary immersion, not continuous submersion.
Heated
Self-heating for sub-freezing charging. Each product page gives the model's charge temperature range.
Bluetooth
App monitoring from your phone.
Victron Comms
Victron VE.Can communication for GX-device integration. Integration needs compatible Victron equipment and a correctly configured system.
Starting & Cranking
Dual-purpose models that start an engine and run house loads. Cranking-rated does not mean approved for every outboard: have us check your engine's starting requirement and alternator charging before you order.
