A Club Car Onward is ready for a morning on the course, an afternoon with family or another loop around the neighborhood. When its lead-acid batteries are wearing out, those trips can start with a less enjoyable routine: adding water, inspecting corroded connections and wondering how much charge is really left. A correctly fitted Epoch lithium battery kit gives an electric Onward a practical path to simpler, more dependable battery ownership.
Epoch's complete 48V LiFePO4 kits replace the multi-battery lead-acid bank with one battery and supply a lithium charger, dashboard gauge and 12V converter. Bluetooth monitoring makes it easier to check the pack before a longer ride. With the right mounting and charging arrangement, the changeover feels like the drop-in upgrade owners want: a cleaner battery bay, fewer connections and no more flooded-battery watering.
The Epoch Club Car Onward collection lists four complete 48V kits. This guide focuses on electric Onward carts with 48V lead-acid batteries. Club Car also offers gas and factory-lithium Onwards; their power systems need separate evaluation rather than the same lead-acid conversion procedure.
The four kits in the Onward collection include LiFePO4 cells, an advanced battery management system, Bluetooth monitoring and IP67-rated battery enclosures, with an 11-year manufacturer warranty. IP67 describes the battery enclosure; it does not make the charger's wiring or every connection on the cart waterproof.
Think about the cart's real route and load before choosing capacity. A two-seat Onward used for short trips may need less reserve than a four-seat family cart, a six-passenger guest shuttle or a lifted cart tackling hills. More energy can support more time between charges, but a kit must also fit the tray and provide enough continuous current for the particular controller and driving demands.
| Epoch kit | Possible Onward use | Fitment detail to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| 48V 65Ah complete kit | 3.33kWh and 200A continuous output for shorter, lighter-duty trips. | Listed in this collection; its product selector says Club Car Precedent, not Onward. Confirm bracket fit. |
| 48V 105Ah complete kit | 5.38kWh and 200A continuous output for a longer everyday route. | Product copy names Precedent/Onward; select the appropriate hardware and verify the Onward tray. |
| 48V 105Ah Mini kit | The same listed energy and output in a shorter, narrower but taller case. | Club Car DS or Other are selectable; confirm Onward hold-downs and vertical clearance. |
| 48V 150Ah complete kit | 7.68kWh and 300A continuous output for a compatible high-use setup. | The larger case has no Onward-specific selection; check tray space and mounting. |
Capacity is only one part of range. Passenger weight, lift height, tire diameter, speed, terrain and accessories all affect how far a charge goes. Compare a realistic full day of use with battery energy and output instead of relying on a single advertised mileage figure.
Club Car lists many lead-acid electric Onwards as 48V vehicles with six 8V batteries. Identify the actual cart and measure the open battery compartment in three dimensions, including room for terminals, cable bends and a secure hold-down. A battery that fits inside the footprint still needs a proper mounting approach. The Mini's different shape does not automatically make it the best fit for an Onward.
Controller output matters too. Club Car's four-passenger electric specification lists a 250A motor controller, while the Epoch 65Ah and both 105Ah kits list 200A maximum continuous battery discharge. Controller rating is not the same as actual continuous battery draw, so check the cart's settings and duty cycle with Epoch before deciding that a particular kit has enough current headroom. A lifted or passenger-heavy Onward may call for closer sizing and a higher-output option.
The original Club Car E.R.I.C. charging setup on a lead-acid Onward should not be assumed compatible with the new battery. Use the kit's matching lithium charger and confirm how it will connect to the cart's charge inlet, wiring and any charger-sense or interlock circuit. There is no single onboard-computer bypass rule for every Onward. The correct charging integration depends on the vehicle's year and equipment.
Onward lights, horn, audio and USB equipment should be traced before connecting the kit's 12V converter. Check whether the cart already has a converter, how the accessories are wired and whether the new converter's output rating supports them. An old lead-acid charge meter may need the included gauge to show lithium state of charge accurately.
For a compatible lead-acid Onward, an Epoch complete kit can make the next battery replacement a meaningful upgrade. Removing the old bank clears out extra series cables and the maintenance points that go with them. The single LiFePO4 pack, matched charger and clear state-of-charge display make everyday use easier to manage, whether the cart serves the golf course, family outings or neighborhood errands.
Drop-in-style describes the intended simplicity once the hardware is matched. It is not a promise that every collection-listed case bolts into every Onward. Check model and trim, battery-bay dimensions, restraint, main cables, charging controls and controller demand. Secure mounting and correct electrical integration are what turn a convenient kit into a good fit for the individual cart. A lithium battery also does not change the vehicle's rated seating, payload or permitted road use.
Avoid mixing lithium with the old lead-acid batteries or attaching an unverified lead-acid charger. If the Onward has modified wiring or an unfamiliar charge-control setup, have a qualified installer confirm the connections before daily use.
Epoch's complete lithium kits offer compatible lead-acid Onwards a lighter, easier-to-monitor battery system and freedom from routine watering. The best solution for your cart is the kit whose voltage, capacity, output, mounting and charging parts suit the actual Onward and the trips you take. Start with the vehicle details, then select the battery for the work it will do.
